Olaplex No 7 Bonding Oil - A Bond Repair for Hair
It felt like not so long ago, we were telling you about the imminent arrival of Olaplex No 6. And boy, were you guys excited! So when we got the news that there is ANOTHER new addition to the Olaplex family set to arrive on our shelves, we just had to tell you straight away. Today, we’re here to talk about their brand new Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil.
So what is it exactly? It’s essentially a leave-in oil that works as a bond repair for hair. Yeah you heard us, it not only leaves your hair silky smooth, it also repairs your hair from within. What more could a gal want?
Well, we can always want a lot more. But if good hair is the goal then this new bonding oil and the rest of the Olaplex range is for you. If you’re already using the cult No. 3 Hair Perfector then you know how good it is and how their patented technology really does work its magic as a bond repair for hair. Keep reading to learn about where this new No 7 fits into your routine and more about the rest of this hair care range.
Bond repair for hair in one simple step
Tell me more about Olaplex No. 7
So Olaplex is calling this new product a "weightless reparative styling oil" - and it literally does everything that little snippet says. While there are plenty of hair oils on the market, Olaplex has infused it with their patented bond building technology. So this means that when you apply this liquid gold to your hair it will actively rebuildthe broken bonds in your hair that can result from chemical services as well as heat styling.
Other than being a bond repair for hair, Olaplex No. 7 also increases shine, softness and vibrancy of your hair colour - the dream for anyone who dyes their hair, right? On top of that - and in great news for those who blow dry and straighten their hair on the regular - it also provides an extra layer of heat protection up to 220 degrees and minimises flyaways.
What more can this miracle bonding oil do, we hear you asking? WELL, it can also shorten drying time. Plus it’s vegan, alcohol-free and cruelty-free! And like the rest of the Olaplex range, No. 7 works on all hair types and complements a lot of different hair concerns - it’s simply been designed with the goal of helping keep your hair healthy, shiny and protected.
Where does it fit in with the rest of the Olaplex range?
For the newly inducted, the numbers can get a little confusing so we’ll break it down for you here. Your hairstylist will use No. 1 Bond Multiplier during the colouring process at your in-salon treatment to help prevent chemical damage where they’ll probably mix it in with the bleach. Then comes the No. 2 Bond Perfector which will be used as a mask after the colouring part.
When you get home, this is where the cult No. 3 Hair Perfector comes into the picture, which you’ll be as a wash out treatment. Even though it’s number three in the range, you’ll most likely be using it after the No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner. This Olaplex shampoo and conditioner combo also acts as a bond repair for hair while pumping it with hydration. You can also buy these three in a handy Take Home Treatment Kit to save yourself some dollars.
After you’ve washed your hair and treated your hair to No. 3, you can then put the No. 6 Bond Smoother in. This little miracle worker is a hybrid of an Olaplex hair treatment and styling creme. So you can apply it into damp hair and let it air dry or apply it to styled hair to help tame flyaways and frizz.
Then comes Olaplex No. 7.
How do I use this bonding oil?
The mechanics on this oil is pretty simple - just tap the bottle onto your palms or fingers and apply a small amount to dry or damp hair.
As we mentioned earlier though, this can be used both as a pre-styling and post-styling product. So we’re going to be using a little bit in our hair while it’s damp so it can help protect our hair before blow drying (and help speed up the drying time as well!)
Then we’d recommend a pea-sized amount of the No. 6 Styling Creme with a drop of the No. 7 hair oil mixed into together and applied to your mid-lengths AFTER styling (blow drying, straightening, curling, etc.) to help smooth any flyaways and add an extra boost of shine. It’s like an extra layer of bond repair for hair so you can say goodbye to dry hair and hello to healthy hair! Thank us for this tip later!
