The Power of Steam: Straight hair with 78% less damage
Let’s face it, there’s no hair tool quite like the trusty straightener. Crafted to transform even the frizziest of locks into a smooth and shiny barnet, straighteners are a girl’s BFF when it comes to hair. And they’re such multi-taskers - a set of irons will help you create soft waves, big curls or super sleek strands.
In the last few years, a hot trend in the hair world has been steam straighteners. Amping up your traditional two-plated straighteners, the addition of steam technology (just like a clothes steamer) works to smooth and straighten your hair in minutes.
But what are the benefits of steam we hear you cry? Well, steam helps to maintain hydration in hair and minimises the damage that sadly comes from hair styling - pretty clever right? As well as protecting that precious barnet, the steam seals the cuticle of your hair, resulting in locks that are smoother and sleeker.
When L’Oréal Professionnel’s SteamPod 2.0 came onto the scene, we were obsessed. Taking straighteners to a whole new level, the SteamPod 2.0 came with a water-fillable tank, allowing steam to be evenly distributed throughout your hair when you’re styling it.
Just when we thought things couldn’t get much better, L’Oréal Professionnel upped their own game by creating the Professional SteamPod 3.0 - an improved version of the 2.0. Nope, we didn’t think it was possible either. So what can you expect with the SteamPod 3.0?
Easy peasy stylin’
The SteamPod 3.0 is an ultra sleek, more nimble version of the 2.0 - in fact, it’s 37% thinner and 14% lighter. Less bulky than the original, the 3.0’s improved shape and size makes styling that barnet easier than ever. Lighter in weight and way less clunky - the 3.0 will effortlessly glide through strands, meaning a 2x smoother and 2 x faster*, a speedier experience, meaning more time to enjoy some wine with your bestie.
Travel-friendly
Our one gripe with the 2.0 version was the fact that the water tank was separate from the actual straighteners - this makes things a bit of a faff, especially when you’re styling your hair on-the-go. But L’Oréal Professionnel have changed that up by building the water tank into the revolutionary steam straightener - what a clever lot they are! They’ve even integrated a comb, which works through strands while you’re styling it.
Get twisted
Not stopping there with the improvements, the SteamPod 3.0 also has a very handy 360 rotative cord. This means you can twist and turn to your heart’s desire without getting tangled up - perfect when you’re trying to achieve those bouncy waves.
We’ve told you about all the new additions, but how does the SteamPod 3.0 compare to the hundreds of other straighteners on the market? Well, we have some pretty juicy stats - the SteamPod 3.0 is two times faster and gets hair twice as smooth*. It also has up to 78% less damage^ to your precious strands and reduces the colour fading that comes from heat.
So how does this nifty device work? The SteamPod 3.0 comes with a little bottle that you can use to fill up the integrated water tank with demineralised water- generally, one tank will see you through 2-3 styling sessions, depending on the length and thickness of your locks.
Once it’s filled up and turned on, simply choose your temperature option - when the light stops flashing, it means the SteamPod has reached your desired temperature.
Then separate your hair into sections and run the Steampod down the length of your hair, root to tip.
For glossy beach waves - Start at eye level, gently curling 1-5cm pieces of hair around the SteamPod 3.0 and twisting as you go. When your entire barnet is curled, leave it to cool, before shaking it out and brushing through with a wide-toothed comb. You’ll be left with shiny, gorgeous waves.
For straight ‘n’ sleek - Begin with the SteamPod 3.0 at your roots - each time, taking 1cm sections and lightly squeezing the tool as you slowly glide it down to the tips. Run a paddle brush through your locks when finished and you’re good to go.
For va-va-volume - Take a small section of hair before lifting it at the root - so that it’s at a 90° angle. Holding the ends, move the SteamPod 3.0 up the hair from root to tip - then leave it to cool slightly while you’re still holding it. Repeat with the rest of your tresses to reveal a big, glam barnet.
