Three easy hairstyles for the hot weather

Don’t get us wrong, we absolutely love summer. Balmy nights, sun dresses and evening cocktails - we’re all about it. But you’ve got to admit that it’s not easy looking great as the temperatures start to rise. Especially when it comes to hair.

In the heat, we’re trying to fight frizz and sweat among other things and we just end up throwing our hair up to save ourselves the trouble. But how do you make an updo look cute? Unfortunately not all of us were blessed with high cheekbones to pull off a strong high pony… So we thought we’d throw together a guide of three easy to do (and cute) hot weather looks you can try this Summer.

Carefree bun

This is a good one for those of us who feel like we can’t pull off a top knot where all the hair is off our faces. It’s easy to achieve - almost too easy - and goes with pretty much any outfit.

  1. Give it a spritz of Evo Salty Dog Salt Spray while it’s still damp from a wash and when it dries, it should be nice and full of texture.
  2. Then pull your hair back into a loose, low bun and secure it was a hair tie and some pins.
  3. Once in place, light pull some strands of hair from the top of your hairline, and just by your ear to perfect the carefree summer look. It’ll keep you cool as well.

Textured ponytail

While not everyone can pull off a sleek pony, let us share with you the secret: a textured ponytail. You’ve probably seen it on the ‘gram and thought that it was too hard to achieve. Well, that’s where you’re wrong.

  1. Start by roughly blow drying your hair with the Babyliss Pro Argan Heat Round Brush to get rid of any frizz. Don’t worry about getting it perfect.
  2. Lightly curl your hair with the Babyliss Pro Ceramic Conical Curling Tong, finely mist the curls with De Lorenzo Elements Vapour Mist.
  3. Spray Nak High Volume Texture Spray at your hair roots, then use your fingers to rake your hair back into a ponytail at the middle of your head and secure with the Evo Mister Fantastic Hair Bungee. Loosen strands around the crown to create some texture and give the pony tail part a little ruffle before you head out to create a perfectly imperfect look.

Braid Crown

We’ve yet to come across anyone who hasn’t been impressed by a braid crown - and good news for you, it’s actually pretty easy. Obviously there are a few more steps than just putting your hair up but we promise you can do it at home.

  1. This look works best on second day hair because it needs a little grit, if you need some help, give your roots and ends a spritz of Evo Haze Styling Powder to start.
  2. Split your hair down the middle, and put and braid each side into a no frills braid. Secure with a clear elastic.
  3. To give it a more natural look, pull slightly at the folds in the braids to loosen it up a little.
  4. Cross the braid to the other side of the head along where you would normally place a headband. Secure with a bobby pin then repeat on the other side.
  5. Lightly tug again on the braid loops to create your desired look.
  6. Mist with Joico Firm Non-Aerosol Finishing Spray for flexible yet kept in place hold.
