Kerastase Extentioniste Thermique: styling cream for long hair

Kerastase Extentioniste Thermique is the perfect styling cream for long hair

So we’ve talked about how great we think the Kerastase Extentioniste range is before - the whole range is designed to keep your hair strong and healthy so you can grow it out. If you already use this hair care routine, you KNOW that it works. So we’re excited to introduce a new step to the long hair ‘training program’: Thermique Extentioniste.

It’s essentially a styling cream for long hair but it’s also so much more than that. It’s a leave-in conditioner, it’s a heat protector, it’s a solution to frizz - it really does a lot. Plus at the end of the day, it’s designed to keep your hair strong and help you grow those locks.

Keep reading to learn more about this brand new addition to the Kerastase Thermique family, what exactly a ‘thermique’ does and whether you need this styling cream for long hair in your hair routine today.

What exactly does the Extentioniste Thermique do - and how does it work?

All the Kerastase Thermique hair care products are designed as a leave-in heat protector and conditioner to help enhance the blow drying and heat styling process. However, each one differs in that it targets specific hair concerns and contains active ingredients to help.

The Thermique Extentioniste is specifically pumped full of their advanced Creatine R technology as well as ceramides to help reinforce the structure of your hair, which will strengthen it overall. Even though ceramides are one of the natural oils found in your hair - it keeps the hair cuticle flat and enhances shine and elasticity - hair colouring, heat styling and washing can deplete the amount that naturally occurs in your hair. This leads to brittle, damaged hair, so the addition of ceramides in the Thermique can help with less hair breakage - Kerastase’s study shows it reduces breakage by a whopping 93% - and will give your hair the breathing room to grow without being broken by a simple hair brushing exercise.

As with the other Thermique products, this new Extentioniste version also offers heat protection up to 230 degrees - so it’s perfect as a pre-styling cream for long hair. We all know that using hot tools regularly can dry out your hair so this helps protect it and also seals the hair cuticles, which will help your hair look shiny and soft to touch.

Where does the Thermique Extentioniste fit in with the rest of the range?

So, because it is more of a styling cream for long hair, it’s the cherry on top of the four-step training program. We spoke about how to use each of the products in an earlier blog about the Kerastase Extentioniste range but to summarise, these are the steps to healthier, shinier and longer hair.

1. Bain Extentionise

This shampoo also features Kerastase’s potent Creatine R technology which actively repairs hair fibres and also pumps Taurine in to give it extra protection and strength. It’s a hair strengthening product at heart and will give you the strong hair you need to grow your hair out without constant breakage.

Tip: You can also add in the Fondant Extentioniste, which is a light conditioner that will help detangle and strengthen your hair. Apply it on wet hair and use a shower comb to prevent any breakage. Some people prefer to just use the masque in the next step though.

2. Masque Extentioniste

In order to help strengthen hair, deep conditioning treatments are really important. This hair mask is designed to penetrate unconditioned brittle hair to restore the strands from within. A simple five minute stint (maybe 1-2 times per week) will help strengthen the hair and restore elasticity.

3. Serum Extentioniste

This may seem like a super luxe step if you don’t usually go through a full training program like this Kerastase one, but this potent serum makes all the difference. It is highly concentrated to help with strengthening the whole hair strand right from the roots (where you apply it). It also protects the hair and scalp from harsh environmental factors that can cause brittleness of the hair strand.

4. Thermique Extentioniste

And then comes the product of the hour, this little styling cream for long hair. Although it’s marketed as a hair cream, the texture is closer to a serum and it’s super light so it won’t weigh your hair down. Simply apply a small amount of the Thermique onto washed, conditioned and towel-dried hair. Massage it into your lengths and ends, then blow dry away! Or use any other hair appliances for that matter. Your hair will stay protected and strong.

The styling cream for long hair we can’t get enough of

So, there it is - the new Thermique Extentioniste aka the perfect styling cream for long hair, and how it fits in with the rest of the range. Does it work? The short answer is yes. It does everything it promises it will, like protecting your hair and strengthening it with the goal of less breakage and hair growth.

But we’ve mentioned it before but we have to say it again, there is no miracle solution to growing hair. The Kerastase Extentioniste range as a whole works to help grow your hair, but it works because it is actively repairing your hair structure and strengthening it. Consequently, this prevents breakage and keeps it healthy enough to grow without having to constantly trim it.
