It's time to add the Pixi Glow Tonic to your routine

While most of us grew up on physical exfoliants - you know the ones with beads in them - we think it’s time you tried something new. So if you haven’t already gotten on the glycolic acid train, we’re here to tell you why we love it so much. In particular, the Pixi Glow Tonic.

What’s that we hear you say? You don’t want to try acid in fear looking like Samantha from that one episode of Sex & the City? We hear you and we promise it’s nothing like that! This Pixi Glow Tonic is a lifesaver and you’ll start noticing subtle differences within a week.

Learn more about why we love this little miracle exfoliator so much and why it’s the perfect product to add to your skincare lineup.

Overview:

What exactly makes the Glow Tonic so good?

Well, if we’re talking about what gets the results then it’s definitely the glycolic acid. Yas, it is the ingredients in those chemical peels but it’s in a much less quantity in this tonic - and other glycolic acid-infused skincare. It will lightly exfoliate your dead skin, leaving you looking and feeling that natural glow. It’s also mixed with some other great ingredients that improve circulation and refine the appearance of pores. So many wins!

Chemical exfoliation? I’m not sure about that…

We get your reservations but we can guarantee you it’s just the name that sounds intimidating. There’s only 5% of it in the Pixi Glow Tonic, which is just enough to get rid of those dead skin cells. Skincare experts love it because when you exfoliate using glycolic acid, it penetrates beyond the surface to wake up the cells underneath, leading to higher cell turnover and super smooth skin.

Also FYI, apart from being rough on your skin, those beads in the classic exfoliants are also really rough on the environment and our waterways when they go down your drain. So do you want to save the turtles or not?!

I have sensitive skin - can I still use it?

That’s a yas from us. The Pixi Glow Tonic has been specifically formulated with ingredients like ginseng and aloe vera to make it one of the gentler glycolic acid skincare products on the market. It’s great for our sensitive skinned sisters and also perfect to as a starter for those who are new to chemical exfoliation.

How do you use it?

So think of it as a really good skin toner. Cleanse your skin first then just pour some Glow Tonic onto a cotton pad and sweep evenly (and always upwards) across your face, neck and decolletage like you would with your skin toner. Then follow the Pixi glow toner up with the rest of your routine like serums and moisturisers.

Looking for something a little stronger?

Pixi also has you covered in that department. Once you feel comfortable with the Pixi Tonic and feel like you’re ready to take this to the next level, try the Pixi Glow Peel Pads. It packs a (good) punch at 20% glycolic acid but you’ll be seeing results so quickly! Rave reviews are saying that it helps with adult acne as the higher level of acid lifts away that acne-causing bacteria as well as dead skin cells. As a result, less fine lines, fresh de-congested skin and less blackheads.

Tip: your face might sting or feel a little itchy after the pad, so after about 10 minutes, you can give your face a splash of cold water for some relief. We’d recommend a spritz of a facial mist like the Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist, which does the trick as well.

A final note

As with every chemical exfoliant, it will make your skin a little sensitive because you’ve got that fresh new layer of skin. So always remember to wear sunscreen underneath your makeup - you should already be anyway - to protect that fresh glow!

People also asked:

Can I use a facial cleansing brush every day?

Yas! If you're new to facial cleansing brushes, try using them 1-2 times a week at first, and then slowly build it up to every day. We recommend using them primarily at night during your PM cleanse, so you can give your skin a deep clean.

How to get rid of dark circles under eyes?

To get rid of those pesky dark circles, try collagen eye masks (you can also put them in the fridge to de-puff your eyes)! There are also a host of eye serums and creams that can reduce the appearance of dark circles.

How to exfoliate face?

Like we mentioned above, you can use chemical exfoliators (like the glow tonic by Pixi) to exfoliate your face. They'll dissolve the dead skin cells on your skin, so you don't have to scrub them away. If you're after physical exfoliators (ones you have to physically scrub over your face), look to ones that are gentle and not too abrasive.
